I have two, pups who are 8 weeks old and they have had their first health check today and they have been diagnosed with umbilical hernias. Can they have pups themselves when they are mature or will they pass on the gene?

My shepherd has had an hernia since I brought her home and very skinny now that she is older. We have tried her on a lot of different foods and finally found one that seems to work. Her coat is shiny but still very skinny. Could this be why she won’t gain weight?
