Shiloh Shepherds are NOT created by combining the GSD and Malamute. The only influence of Malamute on this breed was from one of the foundation dogs, which was 1/3 malamute. That is it. There was one Czech Vlak and also one Sarplaninac mix. There have been some outcrosses in this breed recently, one being the Belgian Tervuren. A GSD bred to a Malamute is a mixed breed, not a Shiloh. Please do some real research change your article. Thanks.

I had friends with one named Luther. I loved him he loved me when I visited, was always happy to see me come and loved my attention. But had decided to attack 1 other person he dint know as well on their property, nothing serious, but a scare. Also, I brought my Min pin over…Luther attacked him 2 x out of jealousy to his mom. I had to keep him close to me and tell Luther over and over it was alright. So, they can be very defensive to Mom and Dad and Property….

Shiloh Shepherds are phenomenal dogs but very hard to get. Our son has our almost 9 year old in the Rocky Mountains and we have a 7 month puppy. The older one is longer hair and does sheds quite a bit. The puppy is a plush but has shorter hair and sheds very little. These dogs LOVE snow and cold. Neither require much coat maintenance. These dogs love people and stop everyone in their tracks due to their size and beauty. Shepherds are one of the few breeds that can be open fed. They will not overeat. Puppies typically start at $2K+ these days but they are so worth it.

I think I may have found my next dog. I love everything about the Shiloh Shepherd dog. I’m not ready yet but I will be in the not to distant future.

I believe you have accurately described owning a Shilo Shepherd. Our Maggie is a love! She is 100 lbs., sable, plush. She certainly turns heads!
She has an abundance of energy. She has a pool and loves to swim! When Maggie wants to do something it’s best you do it sooner rather than later. She does not retract her claws and they can do some damage. She loves to play at the dog park and meet new friends. She adores the attention she gets as most people don’t know what she is and stop by to ogle over her beauty and size. She IS a full time job, but we wouldn’t have it any other way!!!
