The Beagle Corgi Mix is a designer dog with two very different parents. The best way to draw conclusions about the Beagi is by studying the purebred Beagle and Corgi.

The Beagle is the eighth-most popular breed by registrations…and it’s easy to understand why.
They are highly affectionate dogs with a gentle, excitable, and even-tempered personality. It’s really smart, too!
Their loving temperament makes them winners in families with children and other pets.
A full-grown Beagle as mentioned above ranges from 22 – 24 lbs (10 – 11 kg) and 10 – 16inches (25 – 41 cm). It’s common for male and female dogs to be the same size.
And again with proper care, they can live between 10 – 15 years and is considered a healthy dog overall.
The health concerns of the Beagle are hardly breed-specific, as many dogs of various shapes and sizes can experience epilepsy, hip dysplasia, and cherry eye.
Meet The Short Corgi
Corgi
The Corgi, also known as the Pembroke/Cardigan Welsh Corgi, is one of the most recognizable dogs with its bat ears, short legs, and long body.
Watching this dog run is a real treat. It almost looks like a hopping bunny.
A full-grown Corgi weighs between 22 – 31 lbs (10 – 14 kg) and reaches a height of 10 – 12 inches (25 – 30 cm).
This breed has similar characteristics to the Beagle, in that it’s playful, friendly, and smart. But is also has a sassy side!
Its temperament is described as tenacious (similar to being stubborn or headstrong), protective, and bold. Small yet feisty!
The Corgi also as the same lifespan as the Beagle at 12 – 15 years. Something to keep in mind for their offspring!
Unfortunately, a dog with such a silly body comes with one serious health concern: intervertebral disc disease.
The long back of a Corgi can lead to a herniated spinal column, which causes the dog a lot of pain, nerve damage, and sometimes even paralysis.
It’s so sad to think about such a cute dog in agony!
What Happens When You Cross Genes?
Onto happier news, let’s talk about Corgi & Beagle mix puppies and the characteristics that get passed down from their parents.
Nothing should come as a surprise, as all of this data was taken from what we’ve already learned about the Corgi and Beagle.
So, we can predict that the Corgi Beagle Mix will weigh between 10 – 20 pounds (4.5 – 9 kg) and reach a height of 10 – 16 inches (25 – 41 cm).
Like both its parents, the Corgi Beagle Mix will live between 12 – 15 years.
Epilepsy, hip dysplasia, and the severe intervertebral disc disease may occur in the Beagle Corgi Mix as well.
The body of a Beagi is just as much of a melting pot. It comes with the drooping ears of a Beagle and the curly and erect tail of a Corgi.
If there are a lot of Corgi genes, the mix will have a white stripe running along its nose.
Its white and orange coat coloring is a classic look, but it also comes in a blend of brown, black, and red. Beagle & Corgi cross usually have two or more shades to them.

A Beagi Puppy’s Personality
The temperament of this mix is a combination of its parents: friendly, willing to please, and intelligent.
The Beagle side makes it loyal toward friends and family, but the protective Corgi side makes it wary and nervous around strangers.
The Corgi Beagle Mix will have a natural instinct to protect young children as well as the elderly, which makes it a great family pet.
There’s a fine line between protection, aggression, and behaving territorial. So, early socialization is key for this breed. Otherwise, it can lead to conflict with other dogs.
Hound Vs. Herding Dog Group
A dog’s group says a lot about its character and behavior. The Beagle belongs to the Hound Group, the Corgi to the Herding Group.
Looking at the picture, the pros and cons of these two are not that different.
Both groups have a strong tie to animals. Controlling them, hunting them, and protecting livestock.
Because of this, the Corgi Beagle Mix is not the optimal breed for owners with small pets, like rodents or birds.
The Beagi has a strong prey-drive.
Caring For A Corgi Beagle Mix
Let’s start with grooming. This breed does shed and is not considered “hypoallergenic.”
Its coat requires brushing 2-3 times a week, and, like all dogs, need its eyes, ears, and teeth occasionally checked for allergies or infections.
As for training, the stubbornness of a Corgi might get the best of your pup.
Commands like sit and stay may take longer, so it’s important to maintain a firm but patient presence. Start training as soon as possible to avoid a nippy and anxious Beagle Corgi pup.
The Corgi Beagle Mix needs to be fed about 1 ½ cups of dry dog food every day.
Be cautious of overfeeding as the Beagle is prone to obesity.

Final Notes On The Beagle Corgi Mix
In my humble opinion, the best owner for this mix is a family with lots of love and time to properly socialize it.
Families with smaller pets is not a good fit. It could end in a hairy disaster or with feathers everywhere.

Our two Beagis were dumped at our farm. We were immediately taken with the pair—a boy and a girl. The girl is now Camille, and her head looks very much like a beagle, including the droopy ears, soulful eyes, and coloring. The rest of her is total Corgi. Her brother, Max, almost has corgi ears. But he’s mostly fuzzy and black with brown eyebrows. His body is shorter and his legs more slender than his sis. Both are a pair of clowns that go chasing around like nuts. We’ve never had small dogs—but our red bone coonhound and Anatolian are crazy over their new siblings! And so are we.
